默想︰
保祿常為他的團體祈禱,並將他的祈禱加插在他寫給團體的書信中,令到他正在闡釋的道理,生色不少。保祿這些禱文,很多時是自然地抒發出來的,既沒加解釋,也就更引人入勝,吸引人作深入反省。每當保祿加以解釋或加以討論時,他就建立起一套更完善的神學,領我們更深入了解我們的信仰。當保祿給我們寫下他的禱詞時,誠然就是在給我們披露他的信仰生命,他的靈修精神。可以見到,保祿的靈修往往超乎他的神學造詣。這也當是我們每個人追求的。
我們常說天主的神國,今天,在保祿為哥羅森人所作的祈禱當中,保祿說:「他愛子的國」,叫人玩味。早期教會不偏不倚地將耶穌所講的天國道理,一一記下;遂很快便了解到,尤其反省耶穌的苦難時,耶穌與天主的國有一種非常獨特的關係。「他愛子的國」,綜合了這更深層的理解。
主耶穌,在祢為王的國度裏,請祢紀念我們,引領我們安抵祢的王國,做天主鍾愛的子女,直到永遠。

Meditation
In celebrating the mystery of Jesus, the Church has followed the method of Scripture. In the pages of Scripture, Jesus has many different names and titles. An early Church Father asked why this was so, and taught that all the names and titles of Jesus were necessary in order to reveal to us different aspects of the mystery. Each name marks one facet of the mystery, and is not in itself adequate to express the total mystery.
In the Christmas liturgy we call Him "Immanuel", "Son of David". Throughout the liturgical year we hear Him called "Son of Man", "Son of Mary", "Son of Joseph". He is affirmed as the "Christ", the "Messiah". At Easter we celebrate Him as "Savior" and "Lord", the "Author of Life".
Then we have feasts of the Sacred Heart, Corpus Christi, The Transfiguration, the Holy Name of Jesus. Now at the end of the liturgical year, just before Advent, we celebrate Him as King, He who did not want to be King during His lifetime but who was crucified as "King of the Jews." The coming season of Advent and the Feast of Christmas will remind us of the true meaning of His kingship. A king born in a manger!
Jesus, King of the ages, be King of our hearts.
